WORKING FAMILIES

As a full-time working mom with triplets, Rose Lounsbury understands the struggles working families face.

There is never enough time, and for too many, never enough resources to support a growing family while also working one or more jobs outside the home.

Working families need support. Rose will fight for a true living wage, paid maternal and paternal leave, universal preschool, and access to affordable, high-quality childcare. Every parent should be able to work without worrying about who’s watching their children. To this end, Rose supports the creation of a Grandparent Tax Credit for families who choose to live in multigenerational households. This tax credit would encourage families to live together, providing support, companionship, and care for both the young and old, and most especially, those hardworking sandwich-generation parents in the middle.

Rose understands that parenting is also a hard job mentally and emotionally. In the statehouse, she will fight for mental health support for parents who all too often feel overwhelmed by their many responsibilities and competing priorities. Knowing her experiences are shared by many women and families, Rose will champion initiatives that provide postpartum mental health care.

The working families of Ohio are raising our future. They deserve to be fully supported as they do it.
