JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” - MLK

LGBTQ+ Rights: As a teacher, Rose Lounsbury saw firsthand the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ students. These students often endured intense bullying at school, fueled by social and political discrimination outside of school. Sadly, it is not surprising that LGBTQ+ people are one of the highest risk groups for suicide, considering our state’s GOP leadership sees fit to pass discriminatory bills like HB 68, banning life-saving gender-affirming care for minors. Everyone deserves to live a life free from discrimination, and Rose will fight to make sure our laws take care of people. As such, she will work to reverse HB 68 and allow parents the freedom to make the best healthcare decisions for their children.

Racial Justice: Our communities face many challenges: food and housing insecurity, a staggering wealth gap, healthcare inequality, and educational disparity, just to name a few. How are these challenges related? Scratch the surface and you’ll often find one common denominator: racism. Rose is committed to acknowledging, listening, and taking coordinated action to correct the racial injustice that lies beneath many of our state’s pressing problems. Racism affects all of us, and we need all of us on board to fix it. Rose will work with existing groups to close the racial gap in maternal health and incentivize municipalities to create racially equitable housing.

When everyone has a chance to tell their story, we create a better Ohio. To share your unique Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion story with Rose, please reach out here.
