JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” - MLK
LGBTQ+ Rights: As a teacher, Rose Lounsbury saw firsthand the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ students. These students often endured intense bullying at school, fueled by discrimination outside of school. Sadly, it is not surprising that LGBTQ+ people are one of the highest risk groups for suicide, considering our state’s GOP leadership—including Rose’s opponent—sees fit to pass bills like HB 68, banning gender-affirming healthcare for minors. Everyone deserves to live a life free from discrimination, and Rose will fight to make sure our laws take care of people. Bullying children is always wrong. Rose will seek to end the state-sanctioned bullying of LGBTQ+ children and families that is happening in Columbus.
Racial Justice: Our communities face many challenges: food and housing insecurity, a staggering wealth gap, healthcare inequality, and educational disparity, just to name a few. How are these challenges related? Scratch the surface and you’ll often find one common denominator: racism. Rose is committed to acknowledging, listening, and taking coordinated action to correct the racial injustice that lies beneath many of our state’s pressing problems. Racism affects all of us, and we need all of us on board to fix it.
